I knew we were from the same planet! Planet Fabulous of course! I have a drawer of Mr OWB's surf shirts that are destined to be a quilt so I wait with bated breath while you come up with the most clever and foolproof way to make this happen!

I look forward to reading how you get on with this, are you planning to interface the t-shirts to control the stretch?

  3. charlotte says:

I will be watching this Molli! My daughter wants one of these too and has begun gathering up her t-hirts.

  4. I'm not a huge fan of tshirt quilts, but I'm looking forward to seeing how you do it. No pressure, but I suspect yours will have more flair than typical?

  5. Auntie Pami says:

We just did this this in our Electric Quilt class. Looking forward to your design!

That is going to be one lucky brother! It's always amazing when a family member asks you for something 🙂 Looking forward to seeing it!

  7. Gotta love a t-shirt quilt! Such a great way to hang on to them without keeping them in the wardrobe. I've made three now and they've all been well received… can't wait to see what you do with it!

  8. How awesome that your brother requested this. I cannot wait to see what you create for him!

  9. Laura Links says:

Ha. Your brother asked you for the quilt before sending the shirts. My sister send me a HUGE box with all of her t-shirts from years of marathons as a hint! I did make her a quilt and I warn you, stabilizing takes a lot of time.

  10. I hope you have fun with this new project and the color challenge it presents! And bonus points that you're such a nice brother – my sister (who does actually know how to quilt herself) asked me to whip up some quilted throw pillows because she didn't have the time… like I do?! She explained that her two dogs are a lot of work and that I (with three kids) just wouldn't understand! lol Needless to say, she does not have new throw pillows : P

Smart move that, putting in some chocolate bribery! Glad you've got some colour to work with, so many mens t-shirts are a bit on the grey side. Can never go wrong with a bit of orange and purple I reckon!

  12. T-shirt quilts are always fickle. This project sounds like fun in it's unique challenges, I can't wait to see what you do for colors and layout. Plus, I alway feel extra pressure on family quilts because I want them to love it so much. Good thing they sent chocolate to help you think this one through 🙂

  13. The O's says:

Don't forget you have the backs of the t-shirts for 'extra' material… I will wait to see this one with baited breath… lucky brother indeedy!

  14. Katy Cameron says:

Gotta love it when your family flatters you! And yeah, that's not too bad on the colour front, I've seen some, um, unfortunate colour combinations in the past due to a range of 'team' colours. Why on earth the coaches don't get together to co-ordinate I don't know… ;o)

  15. Great idea, I've made several t-shirt quilts and my customers love mine. Looking forward to how you interpret these little cuties!
