Things have gotten a bit out of control. Friday came, and Grandma Sparkles was all like, "Please, please take me to The Remnant Warehouse so we can go to Fat Quarter Fridays." And I was all like, "But you just brought a suitcase full of fabric from America." To which GS says, "Have I taught you nothing? There is a fabric sale happening right now, and you're gonna sit in that chair and tell me you have enough fabric? Girl, grab your wallet and let's go." How do you respond to that, except to say, "Yes, ma'am."
So then this happened.
Now, if you know one thing about LQS fabric in Australia, it's that it is expensive. Designer duds from America will run you a suggested retail price of $23.95/m. During Fat Quarter Fridays though, fat quarters are buy one get one (BOGO) free. Well, lo and behold, did I not find some Zen Chic Comma in that bin for $6!? So that means, I got two FQs for $6, which extrapolated would be $12/m. SCORE! I cleared out every piece of Comma from that bin, and then walked over to the cutting counter, and found three more pieces they were folding to put in the bin. I saved them the trouble.
Oh, and don't you worry, I eyed up the remaining yardage on bolts, and it is dwindling. Soon my pretties, soon.
I also spotted these Momo Oh Deer! FQs, which I have wanted for ages. I knew I had some of the Oh Deer! spots sitting in the Magic Suitcase at home in these same colour ways. Meant to be? Yes.
That other FQ was one I hadn't seen before. I have a few other Sanae Chrysalis FQs already in the stash, and GS dug this one out of the deep end of the bin (even with glasses she can spot fabric from miles away!) I almost threw it back, but then, you know how that goes!
Oh, Vintage Modern. Like, I know I don't need you, but for old time's sake? When we wake up in the morning let's just forget it happened and we won't tell anyone. Yes? Yes.
Then GS curated this little duo for herself. She says she's not good at picking colours, but I think this is pretty stellar. Can you imagine a sophisticated, butterfly pocket clutch lined with that dot? Cool greys, bet still my heart!
I'm not sure if you can really discern from the photos, but all of those whites are not the same. I found several of them in the FQ bin, and then splurged on a bit of yardage since I was there. Don't you forget, I'm keeping track of every cost for my Quilt That Never Was (white on white, no kids allowed, trip around the world quilt). I'll put up another dedicated post on that soon.
But really, don't think I don't know why y'all are really here. You're all like, "Blah, blah, remnant, blah, warehouse, blah blah FQ FQ blah blah blah." Girl, I can see it all over your face. (By the way, that lipstick fab-u-lous!) You're here for the Magic Suitcase V2.0, right?! Well, then, let's get on with it!
For those who aren't familiar with the Magic Suitcase V1.0, check out the link for full exposure. But basically, last February, GS mailed a suitcase full of fabric to me, comprised of purchases I had sent to her, and "scraps" she didn't want/need anymore. Now, it's all happening again. Except this time, it's all fabric I have purchased since then (52+ yards!), which means there won't be any of this:
Ick. I still don't know what I'm doing with that. But enough about that, let's see some of the good stuff! First up, some Laura Gunn's Cosmos. Y'all know my typical distaste for most florals, but Cosmos, man, it's like a watercolour dream. It's one of the few florals that have a graphic nature as well. I never picked up any of her Edges, but holding these in my hands makes me want to!
Who doesn't love soft serve ice cream? Especially when it is emblazoned on magenta fabric! This Thomas Knauer print from Asbury Amusement Park and this orange Julia Rothman paper clip print from Type is about as novelty print as I get. I'm always on the look out for good oranges, and if you haven't picked this one up yet, I can recommend it like a glass of Sunny D. There's also some Simply Color Eggplant Ombre tucked away back there. These oranges and magentas have me feelin' on fire!
These last two I'm gonna show you today (don't worry, petals, there are weeks and weeks of fabric to come!) are from Cosmo Cricket's Salt Air. I'm still yearning for a bit more from that range, and it is always at the top of the list to buy, and then something a bit more fabulous comes along. These are definitely going into the depths of the stash.
Right -- so I'm stopping there today, as I don't want to be left fully exposed! Not quite yet, anyway. That's only the first 3.5 yards, so there will be plenty more pictures and posts to come. GS, Mr. Sparkles, Charlotte, and I are heading to Uluru on Tuesday so don't expect much blogging, but make sure to find us on Instagram: molli_sparkles !!!
