So now I understand why you've been so speedy with the quilting! You were on a borrowed machine deadline LOL.

This turned out wonderful and your MIL will be thrilled.

  2. What a good son-in-law you are!! Reminded me I need to make MY MIL a lunch bag as she ordered before she arrives next month… And oh yes darling, you need to get a good machine!

You've done a beautiful job and the quilting is wonderful. Your MIL is one very lucky lady.

  4. You know, I actually really like it! The graphics help immensely.

  5. Pat says:

I'm not big on those flowery fabrics either, but this turned out great – very soft and pretty.

  6. Sooli says:

Well it turned out beautifully in the end. A lovely mix of fabrics which I'm sure she's going to love. Definitely scored yourself some brownie points there which may well translate into an awesome Chrissy pressie for you from MIL! (Get thee to a sewing machine shop with haste!)

I so want a new sewing machine too. I can understand now why I have been unable to keep up with all your projects the last weeks. so sorry that it has to go back. after using the pfaff, is that the machine you want or do you have your sights on a different machine?

  7. Very lovely! I think the red and cream stripes really ground the quilt and are the perfect touch.

  8. Jane S. says:

You were spot on about the red stripes. They work wonderfully!

  9. Am L says:

The fabrics aren't my preference either, but the quilt looks fabulous. Great job, and I'm sure your mil will love it.

It's perfectly lovely. You and the quilter did a great job.

  11. Katy Cameron says:

Fabulous exchange dahling, shame the machine wasn't for keepsies!

  12. Julie says:

It is a beautiful quilt – I am sure she will be thrilled with it.

That is simply stunning. It was stunning before Jane quilted it but even more so now! Love the binding fabric.

Given the recent kitchen purchase I propose equal if not more be spent on your Christmas pressie! Put your dream on layby, set it up with the store and ask friends to pay some off for you for Christmas…

  14. This will surprise no one. But I like the back the best. It's like you zapped her with a modern quilt but all sneaky-like. 🙂

It's so hard to work outside of one's fabric "like" zone. Congratulations for doing it, and for doing it so fabulously!

It's a really pretty quilt, even if it isn't your usual style. I really do think that the addition of the red/cream stripe keeps it from being too precious. I'm sure your MIL knew exactly what she was doing- getting herself a Molli Sparkles original!

Even though it wasn't exactly your cup of tea – it's a beautiful quilt. Your MIL is very lucky!

It's lovely, the quilting really suits it 🙂 I got a new sewing machine recently. I wasn't sure I really needed one other than my very basic singer, but once I tried it in the shop I realised how much nicer it was to sew on! I hope you get a shiny new one soon 🙂

  19. Looks like a lovely finish – thank you for linking to TGIFF!!

Even though I share your opinion on the fabrics I still think this is a beautiful quilt. I'm so pleased your MIL loves it!
